Several dozen teachers demonstrated on Friday, August 5, 2022 in the streets of Pétion-ville to demand the release of Professor Bazelais Morose, who was kidnapped on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 by heavily armed men in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets, according to some of his colleagues.
Equipped with tree branches and signs with messages against the kidnapping, the protesters paralyzed traffic in Pétion-ville for several hours. Despite the presence of police officers from the Pétion-ville police station, the protesters burst into the courtyard of the Kinam Hotel in Pétion-ville, where the Minister of National Education and Professional Training, Nesmy Manigat, was scheduled to attend a meeting.
Determined in their movement to find the release of their comrade, they then took the direction of the national school of Guatemala to motivate other teachers to join them on the tarmac to continue to demand the release of Bazelais Morose.
These teachers, who have been working for several weeks at the correction centers of the state exams at the Lycée National de Pétion-ville, are threatening to put an end to the correction of the exams until the release of their colleague.
Professor Bazelais Morose studied at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (physics department) and at the Faculty of Law and Economics (economics) at the State University of Haiti.
Despite the determination of law enforcement to track down bandits and kidnappers, cases of kidnapping continue to multiply in the country. Let us recall that the forces of law and order freed six hostages on Thursday, August 4, 2022, including a French national in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets.
