Several alleged gang members were arrested, kidnappings were foiled and hostages were released, announced the national police during operations carried out from July 8 to 10, 2022 in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
The police were very active in Torcel, the stronghold of the gang leader Vitelhomme, where they reported having freed two hostages kidnapped in Pernier on Saturday, July 9. A suspected bandit was killed in an exchange of fire with the police. The police also intercepted a vehicle.
On the same day, Saturday, July 9, PNH reported that an individual armed with an M4 assault rifle was shot in a vehicle in Delmas 30 after having kidnapped a person in Delmas 33. However, three other people who accompanied him in the crime, managed to save with the victim.
The PNH also reported the arrest of Isaac Junior Salvant, 29 years old, who was apprehended by agents of the Brigade of Fight against Drug Trafficking (BLTS) and the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, in possession of 132 thousand 236 U.S. dollars.
Isaac Junior Salvant was about to take a flight to New York aboard a plane of the company JetBlue.
Meanwhile, we learned that the alleged bandit Wesley Joseph Aka Ti kana was killed on Monday, July 11, during a confrontation with the police in Acul du Nord, not far from Cap-Haitien. According to the spokesman of the national police in the north, Arold Jean, the alleged criminal was a criminal who wanted to interrupt a construction site. He was in possession of a firearm and fired in the direction of the police officers who were there.
