Carl Henry Desmornes is no longer National Ati of Vodou. The assembly of the sovereign “gwetodés” and “gweto” of the National Confederation of Haitian Voodooists (KNVA in Creole) informs that it has appointed the plenipotentiary “Gwètòde”, Houngan Prospère Louisdor as provisional National Ati.
During an extraordinary assembly held in early June, Houngan Prospère Louisdor was named, by acclamation, provisional National Ati of Vodou for a period of one year. His mission is to carry out the elections to find a definitive national Ati. “I am aware of the heavy responsibility of gathering all the members of the confederation. I have already met with some of the players. We are on the right track to reunify the sector,” said Prospère Louisdor contacted by Zoom Haiti News on Saturday.
The new provisional Ati replaces Carl Henry Desmornes who was unable to complete his seven-year term. Contacted by ZHN, the houngan Desmornes stressed that he is no longer part of the “KNVA”. “Our objectives, our visions are no longer the same. We decided to separate about a month ago,” explained Mr. Desmornes. He confirmed that the directors of the confederation have appointed Houngan Prosperous Louisdor as provisional Ati.
After the death of the Secretary General of the National Confederation of Haitian Voodooists, Mrs. Euvonie Georges Auguste, the organization has experienced some moments of instability. In search of unity, the appointment of Prospère Louisdor is timely, according to some members of the confederation.
