Pierre Richard Désinord, alias General, was seriously injured during an operation of the Haitian National Police this Friday, June 3, 2022, on Charlemagne Péralte Street, in the center of Port-de-Paix.
According to a note from the police, Pierre Richard Étienne, 35 years old, was the head of a gang composed of more than a dozen heavily armed criminals who were extorting money from the residents of the locality of “La coupe”.
According to Ruthlande ROZILMÉ, Departmental Head of Press and Public Relations of the PNH, during this operation in the heart of the Capois Lamort neighborhood, the police came under heavy fire from these thugs. However, four of the thugs were intercepted, including “General” who is currently in intensive care at the Immaculate Hospital of Port-de-Paix, under police surveillance.
The local police are asking for the collaboration of the population in the fight against crime in all its forms in the city of Valparaiso.
In parallel, the Nord-Ouésian Police conducted various operations in the commune of St-Louis du Nord during this week which resulted in 7 arrests, the seizure of a firearm, the confiscation of 5 vehicles and 27 motorcycles.
René Joseph, Sadieu Jean, Jefferson Joseph, Jackson Sanon, Valcin Ceradieu and Nelfort Evenson were among the individuals arrested during these operations for various infractions.
The North-West department has been facing acts of insecurity for some time, particularly in the capital city of Port-de-Paix. At the beginning of the week, a 14 year old girl was kidnapped and found after several days.
