One of the most powerful gang leaders operating in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets, Kòlèg, was shot dead this Wednesday, August 3, 2022 during exchanges of fire with the police in Duval roche.
The information was confirmed by several sources close to the Haitian National Police, indicating that three other members of the gang led by “Kòlèg” were also killed by the police, who confiscated several firearms at the same time.
This dangerous gang leader “Kòlèg”, who controlled a good part of the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets, notably the locality called Gédéon, was considered the second leader of the 400 mawozo gang, which engages in acts of kidnapping and murder.
In Bon repos, also in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets, two armed individuals were killed on August 3, 2022 during confrontations with PNH agents. The latter were trying to hijack a truck of goods on the national road number one, according to the PNH.
At the same time, officers assigned to the Port-au-Prince police station confiscated a Suzuki, license plate LL-00469, which is used by the gang led by the name “Ti Lapli” to transport the ransoms paid by family members or relatives of people kidnapped and held by the gang.
In retaliation, some members of this criminal organization attacked the police station of Portail Léogane. Several of them were killed in exchanges of fire with the officers who were standing guard.
These interventions come after a command meeting was organized on Monday, August 1, 2022, around several important points, including the evaluation of the national security climate.
