PAROLE Program: Twenty Haitian police officers already in the United States

CTN News

At least 20 Haitian police officers have already landed in the United States as part of the humanitarian program set up by the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden, according to a senior State Department official quoted by the Miami Herald.

The Florida newspaper recalls that Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry said last week at the 44th annual meeting of CARICOM heads of state and government that 600 Haitian police officers applied for passports shortly  after the humanitarian program was announced on January 5, 2023.

According to officials from the Bureau of Immigration and Emigration, one-third of the Haitian National Police officers could leave the country in light of the number of police officers who applied for passports during this period.

Several Haitian artists have already arrived in the United States under the PAROLE program, according to cultural leaders. Among them are two very popular female artists: Danola and Vanessa Désiré.
