Mr. Alangue Valbrun was sworn in on Monday, June 6, 2022 in the presence of several notable citizens of the city and the judicial system. Judge Desravines Kepler, who represented the dean of the Port-de-Paix court, presided over the ceremony, along with Judge Jean Baptiste Andal and Durosier Fresnel, assisted by Judge Ronel Gelin of the Gonaives Court of Appeal.
In his speech, he urged the new government commissioner to work to contribute to the strengthening of justice and to strive to ensure the safety of the population.
The new Public Prosecutor thanked the public and the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Me. Berto Dorcé for having placed his confidence in him. The playtime is over, declared Mr. Alangue Valbrun, advocating the application of a zero tolerance policy against all forms of banditry in the jurisdiction of Port-de-Paix.
Mr. Alangue Valbrun was acting government commissioner under the provisional presidency of Jocelerme Privert. He was then transferred as a chargé de mission to the Ministry of Justice under the administration of Jovenel Moïse.
His appointment comes at a time when several cases of kidnapping have been recorded in several places in the North-West Department, notably in Port-de-Paix and Bassin-Bleu.
