The demonstrators went from Carrefour la Croix to Chalon, from Chalon to Berquin in the city of Fernand Hibbert while in Fonds-des-Nègres, the protesters went through Pemêle and the city center. They wanted to express their fed up with the extreme precariousness of the country.
The protesters criticized the state authorities for their laxity in the face of insecurity and the devaluation of the gourde. In Fonds-des-Nègres, they denounced the de facto government of Ariel Henry, which they say does not respect the fundamental rights of the population by implementing a governance formula similar to the slavery of the colonists.
The executive director of the organization Solidarité Nippoise pour la défense des droits de l’homme, Marc-Arthur Bienvenue, who took part in the march in the city of Fernand Hibbert, took the opportunity to denounce the national police who dispersed the demonstration last week in the commune of Miragoâne with tear gas. This behavior does not reflect democracy and respect for the human person, believes the human rights defender.
It should be noted that no incidents were recorded during these demonstrations, which were secured by law enforcement officers who did not resort to violence this time.
