The start of the school year is scheduled for September 5, 2022, announced the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Nesmy Manigat on social networks on Monday, June 20, 2022.
While the state examinations have not yet finished on the national territory, the incumbent of MENFP publishes the school calendar for the year 2022-2023.
The calendar provides for 191 school days, with 955 hours of classes for basic school, 114 hours for secondary school students and 9 days of training for teachers and principals.
The dates for the official exams are also known. From June 19 to 21, 2023, will be held the state examinations for the 9th basic grade. From July 3 to 6, 2023, the Baccalaureate exams will be held. And during the period from July 10 to August 4, 2023, for the technical vocational training.
Since his return to the head of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, Nesmy Manigat, following his 12 measures impregnated with the Bernard Reform, has been promoting the slogan LekòlPakaTann (The school cannot wait).
It must be said that the disconcerting climate of insecurity caused by gangs of all kinds has already caused a decrease in the number of school days that have been scheduled for the 2021-2022 academic year that is about to end. It remains to be seen what will happen in the new academic year 2022-2023. Not to mention the fact that in the occupied areas, which are at the mercy of heavily armed bandits, it is difficult for schools to function and for students to travel.
It should be noted that it is not surprising that some school officials disregard the MENFP calendar by following their own program in full view of everyone.
