La Maire de Boston Michelle Wu a réaffirmé son engagement à maintenir le statut de ville sanctuaire de Boston en réponse à la politique de déportation massive de Trump. Alors que les mesures fédérales de répression de l’immigration s’intensifient, Mme Wu souligne que Boston restera un havre de paix pour les immigrants sans papiers, les demandeurs d’asile et les familles à statut mixte. Sa position s’inscrit dans le cadre des efforts déployés de longue date par la ville pour protéger les droits des immigrés et résister à l’ingérence du gouvernement fédéral.

Face aux préoccupations croissantes concernant les raids d’expulsion, les violations des droits des immigrés et le recul des politiques, l’engagement de Mme Wu garantit que Boston continuera à fournir une assistance juridique, des ressources communautaires et des protections aux populations vulnérables.

Cependant, elle a également déclaré que la ville coopérerait avec le gouvernement fédéral pour tenir responsables les individus qui commettent des crimes, quel que soit leur statut d’immigration.
