Haitian Bridge Alliance is the name of an international organization based in California, United States, which decided to come to Tapachula, Chiapas, to accompany migrants.
This initiative of the Haitian Bridge Alliance offers migrants the opportunity to better understand the U.S. asylum system, Spanish language training, medical assistance, and accompaniment for immigration appointments.
Migrants are a particularly vulnerable group, with a fragile status and often living in very precarious conditions. Whether they are fleeing poverty, war, persecution, or are documented or undocumented, these people are at the heart of the Haitian Bridge Alliance’s mission in Tapachula.
The help and assistance of this international organization, in this border town as elsewhere in the world, remain essential to enable them to live in dignified conditions and to assert their rights, according to the American Nicole Phillips, director of the organization and Fredy Castillo, the person in charge in this town near the border with Guatemala.
Haitian bridge alliance joined this Tuesday, March 29, 2022 with other organizations such as: IDEHU, Espacio Migrante, Fray Matías, Doctors of the World, ARHT, in order to help the migrants.
Founded in 2015, by Guerline Joseph, Haitian Bridge Alliance continues to help migrants especially Haitians. During the month of April, this organization will also set up in Tijuana, a city near the U.S.-Mexico border in Baja California.
