Mexico- Immigration: When Haitian migrants fly to the rescue of their Latin American counterparts

CTN News

Several hundred Latino migrants decided to set up camp in the Benito Juárez public square for about a week, in order to force the Mexican authorities to regularize their status with promptness. With great difficulty in finding food, the Latinos were able to count on the support of a group of Haitian migrants who collected funds to buy rice and meat and distribute them afterwards.

Despite their limited means, the Haitian migrants decided to come to the rescue of their Latin American counterparts.
This initiative comes a few days after the large demonstration of migrants that took place in Tapachula, Chiapas, to demand permanent status that will allow them to cross the southern border and continue their journey to the United States.
This is the second time that Haitian migrants have concretely expressed their solidarity with Latin Americans in Tapachula after the cleanup of the Olympic Stadium last December.
