The new political party called “avek jezi nou kapab chanje ayiti” AJCH is opposed to the entry into force of the new Haitian penal code scheduled for June 24.
During a press conference held this Friday, June 17, 2022, the president of the party Enous Jean Batiste did not mince his words to describe the tactics used to encourage certain amoral practices in society.
He maintains that the new penal code is an attack against the culture and the moral values of the Haitian society while inviting the key sectors of the national life to defend them.
The president of the AJCH highlighted several articles of the new penal code that, he said, should be removed from the document, including articles 304 and 471 that lower the age of sexual maturity to 15 years and encourage the prostitution of minors. The political leader also analyzed article 468, which authorizes minors to consume alcohol at the age of 15, while article 405 legalizes sexual relations between members of the same family and article 305, for its part, authorizes sexual relations between man and animal.
After the considerations made by Enous Jean Baptiste, president of the party “avek jezi nou kapab chanje ayiti”, he asked the members of the de facto government of Ariel Henry to analyze in depth this new penal code which, he says, has already created controversy within society.
“The country does not need a law that encourages immorality, the nation needs schools, hospitals, security measures to reduce kidnapping and cases of murder, electricity to facilitate development, drinking water that is becoming increasingly scarce in poor neighborhoods, as well as road infrastructure to connect all departments,” hammered Enous Jean Baptiste.
A few days before the date of June 24 to mark the entry into force of the new penal code published by former President Jovenel Moïse, several sectors of national life are beginning to come out of their silence to obstruct the publication of the document.
Many believe that the application of this new penal code can trigger anger in the population.
