The Haitian National Police has reported on the arrest last Sunday of Ezéchiel Alexandre alias “Ze”, gang leader of the Pilate base. This alleged thug was arrested in the company of Junior Claude, a former police officer, said Gary Desrosiers, noting that the two men had in their possession two guns and were aboard a white pickup truck, registration number: IT-07703.
The day after the arrest of Ezéchiel Alexandre, the areas of the 2nd and 3rd districts of Port-au-Prince were blocked. Armed individuals were deployed in the streets, particularly in Portail Léogâne, where a situation of panic reigned. They demanded the release of the alleged leader of the gang of the “pilate base”, Ezéchiel Alexandre, whose stronghold is located at 2nd Avenue Bolosse.
Garry Desrosiers also reported the arrest of Jean Iva Domond, 66 years old, for his alleged involvement in the murder of the teenager Jean Marcson Romelus, aged 11 in the township of Jacmel, and for illegal possession of firearms.
Several other individuals have been arrested in several regions of the country for drug trafficking, homicide, kidnapping and armed robbery, according to the PNH spokesman.
Garry Desrosiers renewed the will of the police institution to track down the bandits. He announced that new equipment will soon be available to allow law enforcement officers to mount and carry out special operations in difficult neighborhoods, particularly in Martissant, which is controlled by armed gangs. These materials will arrive shortly in the country.
Gary Desrosiers, who made the announcement, did not provide details on the specificity of these materials for strategic reasons, he said.
Following the example of the Director General of the PNH, Gary Desrosiers continues to call on the population to be patient, stating that the institution is very concerned about the situation of terror that armed gangs impose on citizens.
In addition, the PNH inspector stressed that the Central Directorate of Judicial Police intends to continue its collaboration with the Haitian justice system in the investigation of the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in the night of July 6 to 7, 2021.
