CTN News

Dozens of Haitian migrants were intercepted Tuesday in the Bahamas as the Dominican Republic strengthens security on the border.
This cohort of 36 compatriots migrated illegally to the Bahamas. Some were located and imprisoned.
Indeed, the police authorities of the Bahamas announced the arrest on January 4 of several dozen Haitian nationals in an irregular situation.
Among these illegals were women and children, said Bahamas police spokesman Audley Peters, adding that he had been alerted the day before to the presence of a makeshift boat in the archipelago.

The occupants had time to reach the coast, however, some of them were apprehended and will be incarcerated in New Providence, the most populous island of the Bahamas, said the spokesman indicating that the search continues to locate other migrants.
In the same vein, the Dominican government has strengthened security on the border line through the operation “Bayahonda 2022” to counter the arrival of illegal Haitian migrants on its territory.

General Julio Ernesto Florián Pérez, is in charge of the relaunch of this plan, especially in Dajabón.
According to officials, the mobilized military will be equipped with tanks, vehicles, motorcycles and drones.
