Haiti-Insecurity: Four ONA employees kidnapped in Port-au-Prince

These 4 employees of the National Office of Old Age Insurance were kidnapped in the middle of the day this Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the level of Marché Salomon reports Télé Pluriel. They are three inspectors and a driver who are assigned to the ONA office in Delmas 17.

ONA employees have erected barricades of burning tires on the Delmas highway, paralyzing traffic, near the headquarters of the institution between Delmas 17 and Delmas 19, to protest against this act. They demanded the release of their colleagues and an end to this scourge that continues to impoverish the population.

The crime observation unit of the Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights indicated in its latest report that it had recorded 326 cases of kidnapping, including 36 foreign nationals from 9 countries and 15 collective kidnappings, during the second quarter of 2022. This is an increase of 44.8% compared to the first quarter, according to the ACHR.

53 kidnappings were recorded in April, compared to 118 in May, an increase of 117%, and 155 in June, an increase of 192% and 31% respectively, according to the CARDH.
The Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights pointed out that the criminals have cars with license plates of the diplomatic corps and even of the BINUH, in addition to the inscriptions of the Haitian National Police.
