Fuel crisis: Closure of services at the maternity hospital Sainte-Thérèse de Miragoâne

CTN News

he medical director of the hospital Dr. Donald François made the announcement this Thursday, October 20, 2022 in an interview with Zoom Haiti News.

The official justifies this decision in order to avoid complications during deliveries, reporting the impossibility of operating the operating room because of the scarcity of fuel.

The Sainte-Thérèse de Miragoâne hospital is the largest hospital in the Nippes department and contains the maternity ward, the operating room and the hiv treatment.

The fuel shortage is having a huge impact on the functioning of institutions in Haiti. Hospitals are not spared.

Bernard Mevs Hospital announced at the end of September that it was obliged to reduce its staff and available services because of the persistent fuel shortage.

Médecins Sans Frontières and other hospitals operating throughout the country were forced to make the same decision.
Faced with the indifference of the government, the crisis continues. And the underprivileged class continues to be the victim.
