CTN News

This Monday, May 22, 2023, marks the official launch of the Jean Rabel/Port-de-Paix road improvement project, an initiative funded by German Agro Action. This project aims to solve the persistent problems that users of this road face during heavy rains. With a distance of 20 km to be covered, this project will require a substantial financing of more than twenty million gourdes.
The supervision of this project will be ensured by the Departmental Directorate of Agriculture, headed by Agronomist Charité Louis. The Departmental Directorate of Public Works and Communication, under the direction of Engineer Angelot Horacius, will be responsible for the project management and execution of the work.

The work will be concentrated on ten critical points of the road, identified as the most problematic areas. This targeted approach will maximize the impact of the work and solve the problems in an efficient manner, according to one of the engineers in charge of the project.

During the launching ceremony held in the presence of the Director of TPTC, the representative of German Agro Action, the representative of the mayor of the commune of Jean Rabel and the Agronomist Charité Louis, Departmental Director of Agriculture of the North-West, it was emphasized that this project would respond to the many appeals made by the population of the area.
For Agronomist Charité Louis, this project is of particular importance because it will provide an employment opportunity for farmers who have been severely affected by the drought that has ravaged the lower Northwest in recent seasons. A total of 228 workers will be hired on the construction sites, which will contribute to boosting the local economy and improving the living conditions of the region’s inhabitants, says the agronomist.

The project already benefits from the commitment of two work teams, thus demonstrating the will and determination of the local authorities to resolve this calamitous situation. Nevertheless, Agronomist Charité Louis solicits the collaboration of state authorities to ensure the full realization of this project of development of the Jean Rabel/Port-de-Paix section.

Engineer Angelot Horacius, for his part, expresses his sympathy towards the population of the lower North-West, who directly suffer the disastrous consequences of the current state of the road. He commits himself to implement all the necessary means so that the works are carried out in an effective way, in order to guarantee a safe and practicable road for all the users.
The Jean Rabel/Port-de-Paix road improvement project represents a significant step towards improving the transportation infrastructure in the region.
