Former US envoy Daniel Foote says he is optimistic about the resolution of the Haitian crisis in a short time indicating that the Montana agreement will be prioritized over that of September 11 ratified by Prime Minister Ariel Henry, political leaders as well as representatives of civil society and popular organizations, according to the former special envoy in an exclusive interview with ZoomHaitiNews and CaribbeanTelevisionNetwork.
In his opinion, the United States will support the Montana document, which enjoys greater support at the level of the various sectors of the Haitian civil society.
For the former Under-Secretary of State, the American authorities have not yet expressed themselves in this perspective out of pride, especially since they have always reiterated their support for Ariel Henry.
However, the Prime Minister is struggling to deliver the goods underlines Daniel Foote adding that the head of government says he is always ready to step aside from power.
“With each mission sent to the country, Ariel Henry has always renewed his wish to deposit the keys of the Prime Minister,” said Ambassador Foote, stressing the inability of Mr. Henry to ensure the governance of Haiti.

The PHTK blacklisted
Further, the diplomat believes that the Haitian Party Tèt kale (PHTK), should be removed from the resolution of the crisis. For him, this structure is part of the problem and cannot be involved in the elements of solution.
Daniel Foote also once again blasted the United States and other members of the international community for letting Haiti sink into the abyss.
Mr. Foote, who spoke in an exclusive interview given on Friday to Edlène Vernal and Emmanuel Paul from ZoomHaitiNews, says he is in solidarity with any solution likely to help get Haiti out of the quagmire.

Appointed special envoy of the United States to Haiti, Daniel Foote submitted his resignation on September 22, 2021. Among other reasons put forward: they had denounced the inhuman treatment inflicted to Haitian migrants who took refuge under the Del Rio bridge in Texas. He also regretted the fact that he was not contacted about the deportation procedures.
“I was informed like any regular citizen about the deportation of Haitian immigrants. It is inconceivable to deport peaceful citizens to a country facing very serious security problems ”, hammered the career diplomat during this long interview with the Haitian media group ZoomInProduction Corporation.

Daniel Foote Foote is very critical of the behavior of the international community toward Haiti. He is particularly upset against the United States which, he says, has not done enough to help pull Haiti out of the quagmire. “Rather, they contribute in making the situation worse for the Haitian people”, regrets the very famous American diplomat.
