While insecurity is in full swing in Haiti, the international community intends to renew the mandate of the Binuh in the country. A decision that raises questions.
Several dozen people demonstrated this Thursday in front of the offices of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti in Petion-ville to express their disagreement with the renewal of the mandate of UNIOSIL in the country. Artists, trade unionists, members of civil society and activists took part in this mobilization.
The objective of this sit-in is to denounce the renewal of the mandate of the integrated office of the United Nations in Haiti. Professor Josué Mérilien invites the population to take their destiny into their own hands to get out of this macabre situation imposed by the United States through this mission.
The arrival of MINUSTAH in Haiti and the creation of BINUH on June 25, 2019, is at the root of the proliferation of gangs in the country, believes the trade unionist Josué Meridien.
In the opinion of the professor, the United Nations has no peace mission in the country. Josué Mérilien reiterates his call for the population to wake up.
The artist-activist Kebert Bastien, who took part in the sit-in, recalled the recent statements of Helen Meagher Lalime, Special Representative of the Secretary General and head of UNOHRO in Haiti, who had encouraged the federation of armed gangs to reduce insecurity in the country. The artist says he is ready to fight all those who stand in the way of the evolution and progress of Haiti.
The decision of China at the UN Security Council to oppose the renewal of the mandate of UNIOSIL in Haiti is welcomed by Professor Josué Mérilien. The trade unionist encourages other countries in the Council to exercise their veto power to block the renewal of UNIOSIL in Haiti.

Since its establishment in Haiti by UN Resolution 247 on June 25, 2019, the list of crimes of BINUH in the country is long in the opinion of trade unionist Josué Mérilien.
BINUH was created to strengthen political stability, good governance and the rule of law in Haiti. Preserving a peaceful and stable environment, while supporting an inclusive national dialogue among Haitians, and protecting and promoting human rights are supposed to be its mission. The record of the UN integrated office in Haiti three years after its creation is a total failure according to these protesters and many observers. Despite this failure, the UN is determined to renew the mission’s mandate at all costs. Is the willingness of UN members an expression of love for Haiti or the interest of its member countries?
