On the margins of the international conference on the situation in Haiti, on January 21, the Canadian government issued a press release announcing the disbursement of $50 million to the country.
These funds are intended for the implementation of certain social projects and to strengthen efforts to establish a secure environment in Haiti.
According to the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the intervention capacity of the National Police is notably targeted by training programs for officers.
Also, 2 training components will be funded from this donation to the tune of 12 million dollars each.
During the January 21 meeting, the partners had insisted on the need to provide technical support to the PNn view of the upcoming elections to restore constitutional order in Haiti.
Within the framework of this donation from the Canadian government, more than 17 million dollars are dedicated to the promotion of the fight for the respect of women’s rights.
The fight against chronic food insecurity and the improvement of health infrastructures are among the other objectives sought by the Canadian authorities through this donation to Haiti.
