A group of young people from the Frère road and Puits-blain are preparing to pay a worthy tribute to the late Michael Benjamin on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
Several activities are on the menu confirms Wandy Charles one of the initiators. He announces a white walk to mark the event. Candles and wreaths of flowers will also be laid at the entrance of the house of the father of the deceased artist, where he lived for most of his life.
A poster of the artist will also be drawn at the entrance to Lionel Benjamin’s home. The objective is to make this space a place of recollection in memory of Mikaben underlines Nathalie Noël, also member of the organization of this project. In the opinion of Mrs. Noël, Mika is a model to follow and an example for the youth of the country.
To close the white walk planned for this Sunday, October 23, the organizers have planned to give Mikaben’s family a book of love and affection collected from the community of Frère and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Mikaben, who died on October 15, 2022 in Paris during the Carimi reunion concert, was a singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist, arranger and producer Michael Benjamin who left behind a rich repertoire of music and variety of successful styles.
During his career, Mikaben has supported dozens of musical groups.
The former singer of the group Krezi Mizik has also put his expertise at the service of a multitude of Haitian and international artists.
Considered by many as the most talented musician of his generation, Mikaben will forever remain an icon and a legend in Haitian music.
