Trump Responds With Security Operation
In response to the surge in violence, President Trump pointed to an ongoing security initiative in Washington, D.C. Under a declared state of emergency, about 800 National Guard members have been deployed, with up to 200 on duty at any given time. According to special counsels Pam Bondi and Jeanine Pirro, authorities have seized nearly 150 weapons and made more than 700 arrests.
On Truth Social, Trump declared: “Washington is now crime-free, in just 12 days.”
He also directed a sharp warning toward Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, demanding a “swift restoration of order” in Chicago or else face federal intervention.
