Violence in Cité Soleil: The political party PADEINHA denounces the silence of the Government

CTN News

The Democratic Party of Haitian Integration (PADEINHA) has, in a note, denounced the silence of the government of Ariel Henry in the face of repeated gang violence against members of the population of Cité Soleil. According to the United Nations (UN), more than 471 people have been killed, injured, or reported missing during the clashes that broke out between members of the G9 and G-pèp gangs in Cité Soleil.

Despite these overwhelming numbers, the government of Ariel Henry continues to display irresponsible behavior towards the residents of the commune of Cité Soleil who have had to flee their homes to escape the fury of the gangs, noted the Haitian Democratic Integration Party, which reports that serious sexual violence has been committed against women and girls.

PADEINHA says it is heartbroken to see that hundreds of unaccompanied children have also had to flee the gang war to take refuge at the Saint Louis de Gonzague College.

This violence not only causes loss of life, but also has disastrous economic and social consequences,” said PADEINHA, expressing its support and solidarity with the people of Cité Soleil who are suffering from violence and social injustice.
